The Perfect Playlist
Hit the Road
Who doesn’t love a good road trip?
Few adventures compare to loading up the car and heading out to the open highway.
Now, if you’re like me, you plan endlessly until Zero Hour, but that’s another post, entirely. There are basics: wardrobe, toiletries and personal care, electronics, comfort items, itinerary and directions, snacks and drinks, and maybe most importantly, music, because let’s face it, if you’re driving 2,000 miles, you’re going to want something to listen to besides the pavement under your tires.
Music can make, or lack of it, break, any trip, and different trips require different music. I try to take the time to put together a playlist every time I travel and download it to my iPad or iPod so I don’t take up space on my phone that I usually need for pictures.
I’ve put together my ultimate collection of music for a road trip. Some of the songs I’ve chosen are specifically about driving, traveling, and/or summer, but mostly it’s music that makes me settle into driving, that energizes me, that I like to sing along to, or that brings back memories of previous trips. To me, the order matters as much as the songs, but that’s something a lot of people aren’t concerned about. The most important thing is for you to include music you enjoy and that makes you feel good.
Here are my favorites for the road:
As a disclaimer, I should add that I listen to a pretty eclectic variety of music, from classical and pop to rap and metal, and just about everything in between. Strong language doesn’t bother me, but if it does you, you might approach some of the above with caution.
So, that’s the playlist that turns a fantastic road trip into the perfect vacation for me.
